VCF Mestalla to compete in a new-look Premier League International Cup
The reserve side will face West Ham United, Middlesbrough, Southampton FC and Manchester United in a U21 competition featuring academies from different European countries.
VCF Mestalla played their fifth preseason game of the summer on Wednesday afternoon, facing Barça B from the Primera RFEF. The game saw the first minutes for new signings Tiago Ribeiro and Rodrigo Rodrigues.
The team took advantage of a great solo move by Diego López to go ahead. Starting from his own half, he overcame defenders with power and speed, before skillfully beating the Barça B goalkeeper.

VCF Mestalla nearly made it 0-2 in the second half through Hugo González, who hit the post. Shortly after, FC Barça B equalised with a shot from outside the area by Ilias, who went on to score a second from a direct free kick.

With the score against VCF Mestalla, they looked for a draw, increasing their presence in the opposition area in the final minutes. A clear penalty on Gozálbez was not given in their favour late on.

VCF Mestalla will continue their preseason on Friday, August 12th at 8pm, against CD Castellón at the Antonio Puchades.
